Q & A

What drew you to aviation?: Because it's magic…

How long have you been involved in aviation education?: Since 2005

What's your favorite part of what you do in aviation education?: Witnessing the look on a student's face when "it clicks"

What's your least favorite part of what you do in aviation education?: Telling a student that aviation just might not be a good fit for them

Do you have a memorable aviation experience you'd like to share?: Helping a former student ferry a new aircraft purchase from the lower 48 to AK. We had the opportunity to put all the theory into practice in challenging weather, so as to validate their decision making

Why did you join SAFE?: To be a part of an organization that has my back

What would you like to see change in aviation?: Innovative ways to reduce cost, and perhaps standardize automation

Any suggestions on how the above might be accomplished?: Push certification process into an industry standards model instead of an oversight model, similar to Light Sport. For instance, TSO standards for personal aircraft avionics are needlessly costly.

Who are your role models in aviation?: Anyone who can make their living as an aviation educator.
