What drew you to aviation?: Always have been interested. Finally went for a flight in a GA airplane and fell in love at the first takeoff!
How long have you been involved in aviation education?: Current Designated Pilot Examiner in the Houston FSDO. Former simulator/FTD instructor for a regional airline, aviation safety speaker since 2012, flight instructor since 2013, FAASTeam Lead Representative since 2012.
What's your favorite part of what you do in aviation education?: Seeing the results of hard work and watching students grow.
What's your least favorite part of what you do in aviation education?: Sweating in the summer months in a Cessna.
Do you have a memorable aviation experience you'd like to share?: I spent 3 months flying around Alaska in my Super Cub during the summer of 2021.
Why did you join SAFE?: Recommendation from another member.
What would you like to see change in aviation?: Modern equipment and more realistic training. Focus on emergency management and stick & rudder skills.
Any suggestions on how the above might be accomplished?: Regulation changes on the airplane certification process, and also the subjects and areas required for different pilot certificates and ratings.
Any accomplishments in, or noteworthy contributions to aviation and/or aviation education you'd like to mention?: FAASTeam Lead Representative and Safety Speaker, FTD instructor, glider tow pilot, previous safety officer positions for several flying clubs
