Q & A

What drew you to aviation?: Initially aviation was meant as a diversion for me. I was working full time as a public school teacher and I needed something to distract me from my profession. Aviation was perfect, until it drew me in! Now it is at the center of my life, right along education.

How long have you been involved in aviation education?: 20 years

What's your favorite part of what you do in aviation education?: Understanding the human element of aeronautical decision making

What's your least favorite part of what you do in aviation education?: Defending my ways of teaching to the "old school" (That's seriously a tongue in cheek comment. I love the integration of old and new, tried and true).

Why did you join SAFE?: I met Doug Stewart by chance at my flight school when he was passing through and really loved his passion for aviation education. I really want to "hitch my wagon" to this group of impressive aviation educators.

What would you like to see change in aviation?: I advocate for the continued evolution toward "train like you fly."
