Q & A

What drew you to aviation?: Drawn to aviation since a small child, just something that was born in me.

How long have you been involved in aviation education?: Worked with Civil Air Patrol from about 25 years ago, learning from and educating young people. Active in EAA for about as long. Recently achieved CFI certificate as planning for giving back during semi-retirement.

What's your favorite part of what you do in aviation education?: 2 favorite parts of aviation education:

1 – seeing the wide, round eyes and huge smile of a student who just experienced their first solo… it's even better than watching them pass their Check Ride.

2 – Making lifelong friends with people I meet through aviation.

What's your least favorite part of what you do in aviation education?: Some of the regulations we have to teach are just plain dumb and far from common sense. We have to teach and abide by them, but we don't have to like them! ;))

Do you have a memorable aviation experience you'd like to share?: Flying to Florida for Sun-n-Fun with my son. Camping under the plane, and stopping at Kitty Hawk Airport on the way back home. Priceless.

Why did you join SAFE?: Recognition of the professionalism required of CFIs, plus the CFI insurance program.

Anything else you'd like to add?: More info:
