Q & A

What drew you to aviation?: As a child,I was always facinated at seeing planes land and take off .This interest grew as every weekend my parents would take to family to the airport. It was something we all looked forward to and my interest grew from then to seek a career sometime later.

How long have you been involved in aviation education?: I have been involved in aviation education (academically)since 2006 when I was recruited by the University of the West Indies to coordinate the Masters Degree (MSc) Program in Aviation Management. However for the last decade I have held the position of airport manager .at several Caribbean Airports and was also involved in Operations training and management.

What’s your favorite part of what you do in aviation education?: Imparting knowledge and sharing experiences and letting people know that there are many career paths they can choose from.I have no favourite part and love it all.

What’s your least favorite part of what you do in aviation education?: Selling ideas to those who have no vision about the role aviation plays in developing a community.

Do you have a memorable aviation experience you’d like to share?: Going to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University to pursue my Masters Degree. The knowledge and interaction with other students worldwide provided a platform for developing a sound foundation and preparing me to enter the profession as a manager

Why did you join SAFE?: To share and learn from members and to introduce a mentorship program in my community and later throughout the caribbean. Also to encourage my fellow partners to join SAFE.

What would you like to see change in aviation?: Affordable to all

Any suggestions on how the above might be accomplished?: Maybe working with corporate sponsers for assistance

Any accomplishments in, or noteworthy contributions to aviation and/or aviation education you’d like to mention?: My experiences working as an airport manager helped me a lot in understanding the role of safety and security and also to develop team work in conjunction with other governmental agencies mainly customs, immigration, law enforcement,ARFF. Sharing knowledge and the love for this discipline could make many people happy

Who are your role models in aviation?: Anyone willing to give of their time in building a career path to youngsters.

Anything else you’d like to add?: Hope to achieve my goal in aviation education and someday, somewhere ,sometime being able to invite SAFE members to visit Trinidad & Tobago and the rest of the caribbean and share experiences with the young people, the future of our society.
