Q & A

What drew you to aviation? Great people, sexy airplanes, wonderful lifestyle, exciting travel opportunities, challenge, adventure and it’s just plane fun!

How long have you been involved in aviation education? 30 years

What’s your favorite part of what you do in aviation education? Having my student pass a practical exam on the first attempt

What’s your least favorite part of what you do in aviation education? Paperwork.  ugh…logbooks, training records, etc, etc.

Do you have a memorable aviation experience you’d like to share? Being spit out of the side of a great momma t-storm to find a full moon as big as the sky against a dark sky.

Why did you join SAFE? I think instruction is a wonderful profession but that we need to promote it as such.  I think SAFE can do that.  We must assure that future generations of CFIs uphold high standards in training in a safety-system.  I think SAFE will do that.  New CFIs need a mentor to help launch their career.  I hope SAFE does that.

What would you like to see change in aviation? Rid our industry of unions.  They support pilots who should not be flying to keep their jobs.  They drive up costs for everyone.

Any suggestions on how the above might be accomplished? It will happen about the same time as congressional term limits.
